7 Benefits of His Rod and Staff;
PSALMS
89: 28-34 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall
stand fast with him. 29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever,
and his throne as the days of heaven. 30 If his children forsake my law, and
walk not in my judgments; 31 If they break my statutes, and keep not my
commandments; 32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and
their iniquity with stripes. 33, Nevertheless my lovingkindness will
I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. 34, My
covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. 35,
Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. 36 His seed
shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.
To preserve
the covenant, promises, prophecy, lovingkindness and mercy already in place for
God’s people; His Rod and Stripes is a default provision in the agenda of God
to make us better and even greater versions of Him. The R and S must also be in
place to cast off the spirit of iniquity and transgression to straighten the
mind and path of the just. This God is faithful and not fakeful and I said so
because, the above Scripture reveals the genuineness and integrity of God who
has vowed not to lie to David that David’s seed shall endure on His throne
forever.
God’s love
for us will be incomplete without His Rod & Staff; in as much as we desire
to be loved by the Father; we must also be willing to get better with
provisions of His Rod and Staff, the perfection of His love. Recall the popular
African adage that says "If a man beats his child with his right
hand, he should draw him to him- self with his left"?
another better way to say, "Don't throw the baby out with the
bathwater" an idiomatic expression for a preventable mistake in which
something good is eradicated when trying to get rid of something bad, or in
other words, rejecting the favorable along with the unfavorable.
The deal here
is, with the love of God, we cannot afford to be spoilt kids in the mighty
hands of a loving Father and we can also be rest assured that we cannot be
thrown away with the bath water (ill character). The prophetic balance for the
above adages is revealed here from; Proverbs thirteen verse twenty four; He
that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth
him betimes. This is the truth about the love of the Father.
Supernaturally, everything will be done to ensure God’s integrity,
covenant and promises is done to our interest. His Rod and Staff keeps us
within instruction boundaries, don’t neglect or reject it and if you do, remember
the redemption provision. God made ways for you at every phase, no matter where
you missed it, find your way and your path because no matter what you are faced
with; all things are working out together for your good. All you have to do is
knowing that a broken and a contrite heart such will the Lord not refuse nor
reject, Psalms fifty one verse seventeen; “The sacrifices of God are
a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”
The deal here is; you must learn to enjoy the benefits of His Rod and Staff,
else you mistaken His love for punishment instead of His chastisement of love.
